About

Mariacristina Vimercati was born in 1959 in Milan, Italy, where she graduated at the High School of the Arts and in stage design from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and earned a Masters degree in Fashion Design with G.F. Ferre’ from the internationally renowned Domus Academy. She has been drawing and painting for over 30 years, especially large canvas oil paintings, and creates and exhibits special projects of pictorial photography and reportage. Between 1978 and 1981 she worked as assistant for Daniela Palazzoli. She also worked as contributor and researcher for the publisher Electa and as collaborator for the Florence superintendency of artistic and cultural goods for the following exhibitions: “Venezia ’79 la fotografia”, “Fotografia Italiana dell’800”, and “Fotografia Pittorica 1889/1911”. She also worked as guest stage photographer with the Italian film director Pupi Avati.
She collaborated for three years with G. Ferre’ as a tutor at Domus Academy and as a collections archivist and set &Visual designer at Maison for the Uomo and Donna boutiques.
During the same period,  she is the official fashion show photographer for Milano Collezioni,GF.Ferrè, Gianni Versace and HI-Fashion, japanese’ magazine. Her career as photographer started in Milan, at Giovanni Gastel Studio, between 1987/90, where she worked as assistant photographer and design consultant. Since 1990 and after a one year collaboration with Arch.Barbara Nerozzi at Gran Bazaar magazine, she has been a free lance professional photographer for clients such as Francesca Lavazza, Ciwifurs, Geox, Loro Piana, Lario 1898, GF. Ferrè, DSquared2, Nannini, , Ferrero, Inter Abbonamenti, Max Mara.
Her work has been published, among the others, by Domus Contemporary Architecture Magazine, Elle Italia, Casa Vogue, Uomo Vogue, UOMO Ed. Futura, DDN Design International, GB progetti (ed.Progetti), Io Donna (Rizzoli), MAX (Rizzoli), Capital (Rizzoli), and Sportweek (Rizzoli), Dove Viaggi, (Rizzoli), Gardenia (CairoEd.).
