About

Born in Milan in 1959, Maria Cristina Vimercati is an artist with an extensive academic foundation.  She graduated at the High School of the Arts and in stage design from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and earned a Master’s degree in Fashion Design with Gianfranco Ferrè from the internationally renowned Domus Academy, in the year of its founding . She also got a scholarship to attend the Conservazione Patrimonio architettonico 2012 at the Centro Europeo Villa Fabris, Thiene(VI).

For over 30 years, she has dedicated herself to drawing and painting, with a particular focus on large-scale oil canvases, while also developing and exhibiting unique projects in pictorial photography and reportage.

Between 1978 and 1981 she worked as assistant for Daniela Palazzoli, as contributor and researcher for the publisher Electa and as collaborator for the Florence superintendency of artistic and cultural goods for the following exhibitions: Venezia’79 la Fotografia,Fotografia Italiana dell’800, and Fotografia Pittorica 1889/1911.

She also collaborated with Italian film director Pupi Avati as a guest set photographer.

Over a three-year tenure with Gianfranco Ferrè, she worked as a tutor at Domus Academy, a collections archivist, and a set and visual designer for the Maison’s Uomo and Donna boutiques.During the same period, she has been the official fashion-show photographer for Milano Collezioni, Gianni Versace, and the Italian magazine DONNA and HI-Fashion Japan.

Her career as a studio photographer began in Milan, where she worked as an assistant photographer and design consultant for Giovanni Gastel from 1987 to 1990.
Since 1990, following a year-long collaboration with Arch. Barbara Nerozzi at Gran Bazaarmagazine, she has worked as a freelance professional photographer for clients including Lavazza, Ciwifurs, Geox, Loro Piana, Lario 1898, GF Ferrè, DSquared2, Nannini, Ferrero, Inter Abbonamenti, and Max Mara.
Her work has been published, among the others, by Domus Contemporary Architecture Magazine, Elle Italia, Casa Vogue, Uomo Vogue, UOMO, DDN Design International,Io Donna, Carnet de Notes, Gardenia and Sportweek.

ABOUT -BIO ASTROLOGER-

Nello studio, fin dall’adolescenza e nel perfezionamento dell’astrologia, Maria Cristina ha avuto due maestri,
o meglio due fonti primarie: sua zia Lisa Morpurgo e Ugo Mazzola, astrologo.

Dal 2000 scrive per riviste di moda e architettura, firma gli Oroscopi del Concorso web-tv Carmencita– Lavazza.E’stata ospite di Mara Maionchi ad X-FACTOR. Riprogetta e scrive per ASTRA,Rizzoli,la rubrica di otto pagine, del Buon Compleanno, 2011/2012.Nel 2020 pubblica un libro,frutto di studi inediti: Il Ritratto: La figura di Saturno, Lo studio attento delle combinazioni tra Sole e Luna, Gli ascendenti”. Scrive e racconta di astrologia e corrispondenze geografiche per DOVE Viaggi, Rizzoli: pagina Instagram 2021/2022.
